Steve Irwin

It was a shame to hear of Steve's passing. A lot of people didn't like him for various reasons (some of whom defaced Wikipedia), but I thought he was cool. He did lots of great things for Australia and it's wildlife. I'll be living in Queensland next year and will be sure to visit Australia Zoo. Of all the ways to go I never would have thought a Stingray would be the one for Steve, not after wrestling huge Crocs and playing with deadly snakes. RIP Steve and my condolences to your family.

Hal Spacejock Support Crew

I joined Hal Spacejock's Support Crew
I didn't pay anything,
I didn't sign anything,
and I didn't read the fine print.
Just like Hal!

No space pilot can exist in a vacuum (hah!), and behind every successful pilot there's a
talented and dedicated support crew.
Hal Spacejock is one of the least successful space pilots in the history
of the galaxy, and a worldwide support crew is needed just to get him off the ground.

Travel Books

As I'm going to be taking a 14 hour flight to the US the Wednesday, I need to sort out a couple of books to take. I haven't got into all the Di Vinci Code hype as of yet so I'm thinking of taking his first one Angels & Demons. I just finished an Ian Irvine novel and have just started Dragons of Summer Flame (one of those Dragonlance books) so I'll take that.

E-Bay

It's always tempting to buy Hugh Cook novels when I see them for sale on e-bay, even though I have them all (some I already have two copies of too). Even more tempting when two of them are just around the corner in Blacktown. I just can't justify it at the moment as I'm off to the US next week and don't get back till November.

Blue

Blue

Bombs fall in heat flash orange
Turning rain to steam.
Bullets whine thickly over
Dank muddy trenches.
Weighed down in a world of wet green
Blinking out images of death.
Struggling with walls of mud
As whistles scream charge.
Up and over into a moon scape hell
Stumbling forward through the fog of war.
Heat lead burning holes through flesh
Falling to oblivion, a world of blue.
Gas choked lungs scream for life
As mustard clouds float on by.
Blue turns to white, then black
As life bleeds out.
